In February 2014, the protests escalate on Maidan, the Independence Square in the center of Kiev. Since that, people have come together from all corners of Ukraine and found their place on Maidan to demonstrate against the ruling system in their country. They sleep and work in tents or squats around the Independence Square. President Wiktor Yanukovych was forced to resign, but none of the protestors left the Maidan. Asking the people on Maidan what they are fighting for they answer:
"Dignity...everything else we can buy".
